Kerosene Banquet Lamp
This kerosene banquet lamp has a copper finish on the foot, stem and vase.
In some places, you can see that the copper has worn off and the underlying brass is showing through. Sometimes this is due to being well used and well handled but more often it is the result of over zealous polishing. In this case, it appears to be the latter reason because the lamp shows very few other signs of wear and tear. It has obviously been well cared for since it was made in the mid 1890s.
The kerosene banquet lamp has a removable brass slip font with a fully operational burner that includes a wick, a flame spreader and a new chimney.
The swirl optic ruby shade is also a new replacement in the style of those popular in Victorian times. With its ruffled top and the rich ruby colour, the shade compliments the brass and copper tones of the lamp very nicely.
With its simple lines and the embossed patterns on the font holder and stem it is certainly a very attractive lamp.
Height to the top of the chimney – 79cm (31″)
Height to the top of the shade – 66cm (26″)
Diameter of the shade – 17cm (6.75″)
