Brass Lamp Stem and Webster Font
The patterned brass lamp stem on this composite lamp is a less commonly found stem form. The font pattern is Webster and compliments the stem nicely.
The Webster font is shown on page 177 fig (e) of Catherine Thuro’s first book “Oil Lamps – The Kerosene Era in North America” and a similar brass lamp stem is seen on page 93 fig (o) of her second book “Oil Lamps II”.
The lamp dates to around 1880 and is in very good condition.
This kerosene lamp is robust yet still attractive and would be ideal for a den or office.
Height to the top of the burner – 34cm (13.5″)
Height to the top of the chimney – 56cm (22″)
