Kerosene stand lamps or composite lamps like this one were most popular between 1880 – 1900.

Being cheap to make, attractive oil lamps were affordable for everyone.

The patterned font on this kerosene stand lamp has an extended brass collar but the glass hasn’t been roughened to create a frosted effect. The combination of these two things suggests that it was made in the later part of the 1880s.

The stem itself is made of a subdued coffee coloured glass with a hand painted floral motif. These stems were made in large quantities in different colours and with different motifs (see also Antique Stand Lamp).

The simple brass connectors go well with the black painted cast iron base.

The antique lamp is fitted with a new burner and chimney.

Overall, this antique kerosene stand lamp is in excellent condition without any chips, cracks or damage of any kind.

It will make a lovely addition to your home or collection.
