The stem on this antique figural lamp depicts a very pastoral scene.

It shows a woman sitting on a tree stump with a basket of grapes on one shoulder, a baby on her knee and a goat trying to reach the grapes.

The finely detailed molding is evidence of the quality of the casting and the bronzed finish adds to the classical look.

The stem is seated in a brass ring and sits atop a black painted cast iron base.

The pressed glass font is the ever popular “Zigzag and Diamond” pattern.

Figural stem oil lamps were most popular during the period from 1865 to 1880. The “Zigzag and Diamond” font was first made in the 1870s so it is reasonable to say that this lamp would be circa 1875.

The antique figural lamp is fitted with a new burner and chimney.

The overall condition of this kerosene lamp is very good to excellent and will make a lovely addition to your home or collection.

Height to the top of the burner – 36cm (14.25″)

Height to the top of the chimney – 57cm (22.5″)

Diameter of the font – 15cm (6″)
