Here we have a pair of clear glass Australian Late Petal kerosene lamps.

The lamps were made by Crown Crystal Glass Co. in Sydney and were in constant production for many years  between the wars.

The glass is thick and the lamps are quite heavy compared to lamps made prior to World War I. They are certainly very stable and I think they would have been almost indestructible. Perhaps that is why so many of them are still around now.

Condition

Overall, this pair of Australian Late Petal kerosene lamps are in very good condition.

They differ very slightly indicating that they were made from different moulds so they could have been made years apart.

One is a fraction taller than the other and although they are both clear glass, the colours are slightly different. These differences are subtle and certainly would not be noticed if the pair were at either end of a mantle piece or sideboard.

Both lamps have air bubbles within the glass and manufacturing straw marks. They also have some small chips around the upper rim of the base as well as shelf wear on the underside.

Finally, both lamps are fitted with burners from the same period. They too have seen quite a bit of use but are in working order. New wicks and chimneys are also included.

We are sure this lovely pair of antique Australian Late Petal oil lamps will be a wonderful addition to your home or your collection.
