Dogtooth Pattern Oil Lamp c.1890
This Dogtooth pattern oil lamp was made in America during the period 1880 to 1900.
The lamp is shown on page 283 fig.(g) of Catherine Thuro’s first book “Oil Lamps – The Kerosene Era in North America”.
It is one of the smaller stand lamps and the simple pattern suits its diminutive size perfectly.
Condition
Overall, this antique Dogtooth pattern oil lamp is in excellent condition.
There are a couple of the expected air bubbles within the glass as well as some shelf wear on the base. There are also a couple of tiny fleabites on the inside rim of the base which we believe are as the lamp was made. None of these things are more than is expected in a lamp from this period and are only mentioned for accuracy.
Finally, the lamp is fitted with a vintage burner, wick and chimney.
We are sure this lovely antique oil lamp will be a wonderful addition to your home or your collection.
