English Cranberry Glass Lamp
This English cranberry glass finger lamp is really quite sweet.
It has been expertly hand blown into an unusual shape. The area of the font either side of where the clear glass handle is attached is perfectly rounded. The rest of the font however, has been flattened to form six panels. It is not particularly noticeable but does add interest to the antique kerosene lamp.
Finger lamps like this were generally used at night time because they were easy to carry and small enough to fit on a bedside table. Given the lovely bright, cranberry pink colour of this lamp, it is fair to assume that it would have been the pride and joy of one of the ladies of the house.
Condition
Overall, this English cranberry glass finger lamp is in excellent condition.
The glass is blemish free and the colour is consistent throughout. The applied clear glass handle is firmly attached. There are no chips, cracks or damage of any kind. There aren’t even any air bubbles within the glass. As expected, there is shelf wear on the bottom of the oil lamp but no more than you would expect to see in a lamp of this age.
Finally, a vintage burner and an older chimney complete this sweet little finger lamp. A wick will be fitted prior to sale.
We are sure this lovely little antique oil lamp will be a wonderful addition to your home or your collection.
