Antique European Vase Lamp
This antique European vase lamp is very different to English or American oil lamps.
It has a beautifully hand painted ceramic vase with a drop in font and a cut glass shade.
The decoration on the vase is a combination of beautiful small birds in bright blue, pink and brown colours with pendulous sprays of flowers that are probably wisteria. These gorgeous motifs are made all the more striking thanks to the satin black background.
The cut glass shade has a lovely band of diamond cutting around the centre of the shade with a band of flowers and leaves above it. The floral decoration ties in well with the decoration on the vase.
The font has an intricately patterned metal top, probably spelter, and a glass bowl. The burner is fitted with a good wick and the chimney is marked “Fire King Made in Czechoslovakia” so the chimney must have been made before 1st January 1993 when the country was dissolved.
However, we believe the lamp itself is more likely to date from around 1890-1920.
Condition
Overall, this antique European vase lamp is in very good condition.
The ceramic vase is free of any chips, cracks or damage of any kind. The beautiful hand painted decoration is still intact and the colours are vibrant without any fading. However, there is some wear to the gilded highlights.

We are sure this lovely antique oil lamp will be a wonderful addition to your home or your collection.
