Like all antique vase lamps, this lamp has a removable font that makes it much easier to use. Being able to simply lift the font out of the vase section means it can easily be moved to a suitable work area to fill and clean it.

An antique vase lamp such as this one dates to the period 1870 – 1887. Vase lamps were still extremely popular after this time but the development and wide spread use of superior center draft burners and fonts soon replaced these flat wick models.

The hand painted vase is beautifully decorated with water lilies in autumn tones of browns and greens. The lamp bears many similarities to those produced by the Boston and Sandwich Glass Company. In particular, the subject matter is very much like those painted by Annie Nye but it lacks her quality and finesse.

This antique vase lamp has been fitted with a new burner and wick.

The vintage “Torch and Wreath” chimney completes the lamp and whist it is not original to the lamp, it does have some age to it and compliments the lamp nicely.

Height to the top of the burner – 31cm (12.25″)

Height to the top of the chimney – 50cm (19.5″)

Diameter of the chimney (bulge) – 12.5cm (5″)

Diameter of the base – 16cm (6.25″)
