Blue Floral Parlour Lamp (Marriage)

Product code - 0618

This pretty blue floral parlour lamp is what is termed a “marriage”. It is so named because the globe shade and the vase are not original to each other. While the colours and floral motifs are a very good match, they aren’t exactly the same.

The vase is probably a little older than the shade, probably from around 1900 and the shade maybe 1920s. It is very hard to be accurate without finding a catalogue or some other documentary evidence.

Despite this blue floral parlour lamp being a “marriage” rather than completely original, overall it is in very good to excellent condition.

The hand painted decorations on both the globe shade and the vase are still as vibrant as the day they were painted. There is no loss of paint or fading on either piece but there are two quite small stains on the vase. These are only noticeable under very close inspection and only mentioned for accuracy.

The cast iron foot and the connector appear to have been repainted.

The Fostoria brass slip font is in good working order, complete with a wick, flame spreader and a new chimney.

We are sure this lovely antique parlour oil lamp will be a wonderful addition to your home or your collection.
