This amber glass font table lamp originated in England and dates to circa 1905. Similar fonts and cast iron bases are shown in the 1905 Feldheim, Gotthelf & Co catalogue. Feldheim, Gotthelf & Co were general merchants and importers based in Sydney, Australia.

The amber glass font is a lovely golden honey colour. The pattern moulded into the surface gives it an attractive faceted look. The cast iron base has a gold painted finish that compliments the font beautifully.

Condition

The overall condition of this antique English kerosene lamp is very good to excellent.

The amber glass font has some tiny air bubbles within the glass as is expected in glass of this age. There are also a couple of places where some of these bubbles have occurred on the surface and then burst. Again, this is not uncommon in glass from that period. They are quite small and can be felt rather than seen so they do not detract from the lamp at all and are only mentioned for accuracy.

The cast iron base is in excellent condition.

Finally, a vintage burner and a new chimney complete this lovely amber glass font table lamp. A new wick will be fitted prior to sale.
