This half shade parlor lamp has an understated appeal. The combination of finely detailed transfers and subtle hand painting combine to create a very attractive antique oil lamp.

The unusual thing about this parlor lamp is the subject used for the decoration. This is the first one we have had with a farming scene showing a man using horses to plough.

The parlor lamp dates to the early 1890s and there is no doubt that the shade and vase are original to each other. The colours and the style of the decorations are identical on both parts. The only differences in the decorations are the number of horses shown. On the shade there are two horses whereas the vase shows only one.

The embossed pattern around the top of both the shade and vase also indicate that they are original to each other.

The half shade parlor lamp has a brass slip font complete with a vintage duplex burner, wicks and a new chimney.

Overall, the lamp is in exceptionally good condition. There are a couple of tiny fleabites on the top rim of the shade but other than that there are no signs of chips, cracks, paint loss or damage of any kind.

This matching half shade parlor lamp is a must have for lamp collectors and horse lovers alike and is sure to make a wonderful addition to your home or your collection.
