Sharon Panel Pedestal Hand Lamp
This antique oil lamp is a Sharon Panel pedestal hand lamp or finger lamp.
A range of stand and hand lamps in this pattern are shown on page 265 of Catherine Thuro’s first book “Oil Lamps – The Kerosene Era in North America”.
The octagonal panel shape extends from the font to the foot and is simple but attractive. A good example of “less is more”.
The kerosene lamp dates to around 1900 and unlike earlier glass oil lamps, it has very few manufacturing straw marks or air bubbles within the glass.
Condition
The Sharon Panel hand lamp is in very good condition with only one tiny chip on one corner of the foot. It is something that you can feel rather than see and is commensurate with its age and usage. Apart from that there are no other chips, cracks or damage of any kind.
Finally, the lamp is fitted with a vintage burner, wick and chimney.
We are sure this lovely antique oil lamp will be a wonderful addition to your home or your collection.
