Brass Stem Oil Lamp with Shade

Product code - 0585
Sold on 27th Jan. 2015

The embossed brass stem with this antique oil lamp is larger than those usually seen on composite lamps such as this. The larger proportions of the stand perfectly match the proportions of open tulip shade and add to its grandeur.

The colourless glass font is very attractive too. It has a band of alternating diamonds and dumbbells around the shoulder with a concave band of scrolls below. The high points have been roughened on a lathe to produce a lightly frosted effect. The bands of pattern on the font compliment the patterns in the brass stem perfectly.

The antique kerosene lamp has been fitted with a replacement etched shade and brass shade holder.

Finally, a black painted cast iron base, a new burner, wick and beaded top chimney complete the lamp.

The only damage we can find on the lamp are a couple of stress cracks in the brass collar (see photo). The collar is still firmly attached and the splits do not effect the functioning of the lamp. Other than this, the antique brass stem oil lamp and shade are in excellent condition and will be a great addition to your home or your collection.
