Embossed Font Oil Lamp c. 1900
This beautiful embossed font oil lamp was made in England circa 1900.
The lovely orange glass font is heavily embossed with floral motifs and the gilt base is also heavily patterned with coastal scenes depicting a light house, a sail boat and what looks like a row boat.
Together, the font and the base combine to make a very stylish and appealing kerosene lamp.
Condition
Overall, this beautiful antique English embossed font oil lamp is in excellent condition.
The font is free of any chips, cracks, repairs or damage of any kind. The colour of the glass is even throughout the font apart from one small air bubble within the glass.
The gilt finish on the base is in excellent condition. We aren’t sure exactly what the finish is other than it is definitely electroplated. It looks too bright and shiny to be brass but too glitzy to be real gold.
Finally, a vintage burner and an unusual ribbed top chimney complete the embossed font oil lamp.
We are sure this lovely antique kerosene lamp will be a wonderful addition to your home or your collection.
