Scenic Stem Kerosene Lamp

Product code - 0447
Sold on 17th August 2017

The stem decoration on this antique composite kerosene lamp is quite unusual.

Instead of the usual polychrome bird or floral motifs, it has been hand painted in sepia tones and depicts a rustic well. The style of well could even be Middle Eastern but it is hard to be sure.

The central band of the etched font has been wheel cut to create a simple yet elegant design.

Coupled with the tapered stem, this kerosene lamp has an understated elegance that is very appealing.

The style of collar with its wide brass shoulder section leads us to believe that this kerosene lamp was probably produced during the 1870s.

The cast iron base is painted black and the lamp is fitted with a vintage burner and a new chimney.

This antique oil lamp is in excellent condition and will make a wonderful addition to your home or collection.

Height to the top of the burner – 38cm (15″)

Height to the top of the chimney – 58.5cm (23″)

Diameter of the font – 14cm (5.5″)
