Hand Painted Antique Parlor Lamp
This hand painted antique parlor lamp or “Gone with the Wind” oil lamp, is very impressive.
The reds and pinks used for the poppies are repeated in the background but aren’t overpowering which is a good thing in a lamp of this size.
As can be seen in the photos, there is some fading to the paintwork on the back of the vase. Most commonly, this occurred when lamps were positioned close to a window for a prolonged period, allowing exposure to the sun and resultant fading.
The kerosene lamp is fitted with a removable brass slip font. The font is in full working order including a wick, flame spreader and a new chimney.
This antique parlor lamp dates to the late 1890s and, apart from the fading, is in very good condition overall.
It is sure to be a conversation piece when visitors see it in your home.
